A new acronym for the childfree movement…GINK!
I came across an exciting article on Grist.org today entitled Say it loud: I’m childfree and I’m proud. The article covers many of the standard reasons the childfree have chosen to remain that way but with more of a focus on the ecological benefits. GINK as defined by author Lisa Hymas stands for green inclinations, no kids. With the renewed focus in the last few years on the environment and ‘green’ living this may work as a more effective explanation for the nagging questions we all get about why on earth we don’t want children of our own. Any movement on that front is greatly appreciated, if being a GINK is more acceptable than being a DINK or a SINK count me in!
