Post Why I'm childfree.

The main reason I have made the choice to be childfree is because I simply don’t have the drive to have children. Being the result of an unplanned pregnancy (along with almost everyone I know!) I know first-hand the importance of a child feeling loved and wanted. I think if my desire for children were stronger I would have a traditional family. I don’t hate children. I just think I don’t want any enough for it to be fair for the child.

To me parents should live for their child. Humans as a species no longer need to reproduce for our survival. Overpopulation is becoming a real issue so I personally think that parenthood should become more of a specialty and less of a normality. Some childfree people refer to people with children as “Breeders,” having breeders actually makes sense to me. I think it would be better for children and our society in general if childrearing was seen as more of a decision than an obligation. Wanted children are happy children and I think if more people just took the time and made sure that being a parent is really what they want we’d be better off.
